The Buffalo-Warren Company has enjoyed a long sales relationship in the feed phosphate industry. Historically, it began its relationship in the late 1950’s with the International Mineral and Chemical Corporation, or IMC Global*,… and today, Mosaic Feed Ingredients. There are 100 years of phosphate service collectively within the Buffalo-Warren organization.
The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) is the world’s leading producer and marketer of concentrated phosphate and potash. We employ approximately 9,000 people in six countries and participate in every aspect of crop nutrition development. We mine phosphate rock from nearly 200,000 acres of Mosaic-owned land in Central Florida, and we mine potash from four mines in North America, primarily in Saskatchewan. Our products are processed into crop nutrients, and then shipped via rail, barge and ocean-going vessel to our customers in the major agricultural centers of the world.
*IMC Global was incorporated as International Agricultural Corporation in 1909. International Agricultural Corporation changed its name to International Minerals and Chemical Corporation in late 1941. In 1942, IMC merged with United Potash and Chemical Corporation and by 1975, IMC had procured operations in thirty-five states, Canada, and fifteen other countries In 1986, IMC acquired the chemical company, Mallinckrodt. It soon changed its name to Mallinckrodt and eight years later, in 1994, spun off its original businesses to a new publicly traded company known as IMC Corporation. In 1996, IMC Corporation acquired Chicago-based fertilizer producer and distributor Vigoro Corp. At this point, IMC Corporation was renamed to IMC Global. In 1997, a merger occurred between IMC Global and the previous parent company of Freeport-McMoRan, In January 2004, Cargill. announced a definitive agreement to merge its crop nutrition and feed phosphate divisions with IMC. The Mosaic Company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on October 25, 2004.
